Master Plan Update

ABOUT THE MASTER PLAN: The Master Plan provides a fundamental planning tool to help a community meet the challenge of making sound decisions related to its development. The Master Plan is both a reference and policy document. It contains appropriate maps, charts, and supporting text that present the recommendations of the Planning Board and offers guidelines for community decision makers. By developing coordinated policies within the Master Plan and addressing such topics as future development, transportation, environmental protection, community facilities, and fiscal management, the plan will help a community meet change responsibly, guiding its growth in an orderly, constructive manner.

Hollis's existing Master Plan was written in 1998 and, given its age and the fact that many of the recommendations have been adopted; an update to this important document is now underway. The update process began in 2016 with a town wide survey to obtain public input a key issues in the community. This master plan update effort will only address those chapters that have seen the most dramatic changes, these include: Transportation, Population, Housing, Facilities, Existing Land Use and Future Land Use. Once Chapters are complete, the Planning Board will hold public hearings to obtain public input.

Please feel free to reach to the Planning Office should you have any questions or comments.
