May 2015

April started off with snow still on the ground, but “spring” was in the air.  Specifically, we had pizza and just sat around and simply enjoyed each other’s company.

The following week was a “day-away” lunch at the Longhorn restaurant. Here we had our own table and simply ordered off the menu.  Along with the food being good, everyone also had a good time.  From the numbers in attendance, it looks like we need to do this more often.

The next week we were entertained by the HBMS Jazz band.  These young men and women musicians were simply outstanding.   We would like to have them perform for us every week.  Lunch served with great music, what more can one ask for.

On the 23rd of April, we had a Spring Bonnet Hat Show.”  Members were asked to design and then wear their hand-made creations.  And there were some creations, ranging from decorated metal colanders to “you name it.”  Definitely, some great pieces of art were displayed.  Check the photos on our web site, thanks to Jim and Sandy.

General:

1.      We have a business meeting the last Thursday of every month (except Thanksgiving).  Be sure to attend.

2.      The SVTC bus service has gotten better.  If you have any questions, call Nashua transportation at 880-0100 Ext 1.  And you can visit the SVTC web site at www.SouheganRides.org.  And if you have not registered with the “blue bus”, please do so by calling the above number.

3.      Senior notification.  The Hollis communication center has a procedure in place by which seniors can be registered for Health and Welfare phone calls.  Forms to register for this service are available from the Communications Center.

4.      For members that have Charter Cable service, the Hollis Public Service Channel is Channel 191.  TDS may have a different Channel. When there is “bad” weather, please check the appropriate channels for school closings/delays, which will mean there will be no seniors meeting.

Future Senior Activities:

1.      Our last Middle-School lunche will be 19 May.  Check with Donna if you wish to attend

2.      There will be a “boat trip” to Squam Lake on 9 July 2015.  Call Grace at 465-3991 to make your reservation.

3.      We are looking at a visit to the Fort Devens Museum.  More information to follow.

4.      Our annual picnic is scheduled for 11 June 2015, at the Barn.

Please let me know your suggestions.
