Sergeant Barry D. Palmer

February 25, 1967 - June 20, 2006

Sergeant Barry Palmer began his career in September of 1995 when he was appointed a Full-Time Officer with the Candia, New Hampshire Police Department and attended the 109th New Hampshire Police Academy. He has a degree in Criminal Justice and has been with the Hollis Police Department since November of 1997. He served with the Patrol division until his promotion to Detective in 2001 and was promoted to Sergeant June 6, 2006. Sergeant Palmer died suddenly on June 20, 2006 at his home. Sergeant Palmer is survived by his wife Nancy and a 21-month-old son Davis.

On June 20, 2016, the Hollis Police Department dedicated a memorial bench in Sgt. Palmer's honor. The department held a small ceremony to dedicate the bench which was attended by colleagues, friends, and members of Sgt. Palmer's family.

"The bench is a recognition of Sgt. Palmer's dedication and sense of duty as an officer and his kindness and generosity as a friend. His positive and energetic approach to the job, and to life, continues to resonate and each of us has a story about how our lives were made better through his involvement. It's our hope that his philosophy about policing and of life in general will be carried on by current and future members of our department and hope this bench starts that conversation."
