CHAD 2016

As the holiday season approaches, the Hollis Police Department will be collecting new toys to benefit the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD). Many of the children receiving treatment at CHaD, as well as their families, will not be fortunate enough to enjoy the holidays in the comfort of their own homes. Additionally, children at CHaD use toys to help normalize their day, encourage development, and as diversions when uncomfortable or sitting for long procedures.

We are asking our wonderful community to help support the children receiving treatment at CHaD. At this time, gifts can be dropped off at the Hollis Police Department or the Hollis Town Hall. December 18, 2016, will be the last day we will be accepting gifts.

***PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF USED TOYS.***

If you are interested in donating a new toy, please visit the following link for some ideas on donation items

CHaD has also created a wish list on Amazon, which can be found at the following link

Hollis police officers will be sporting more beards and mustaches this month.

This year, in the spirit of "Movember", the department will raise funds for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. MMRF is an organization dedicated to finding a cure for multiple myeloma a type of blood cancer. The organization was brought to the attention of the Hollis Police Department after Chief James Sartell attended a Hollis-Brookline Middle School volleyball game at which Cameron Dreyer along with his brother (Mitchell) and sisters (Emily and Sarah) spoke about the organization and how it has impacted the treatment for their mother, Jeanie.

Officers who raise at least $25 per week will be allowed to go unshaven for November. Officers that don’t want to grow beards but who wish to participate in the fundraiser can opt to continue to wear the summer uniform shirt for November. Citizens who wish to “sponsor” an officer can contact the department for their “match.”

The money raised will go directly to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

In addition to raising money for a good cause, the department hopes that it will help start conversations between officers and the community about this fantastic organization.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at around 8:30 a.m., members of the Hollis and Brookline Police Departments, with the assistance of the Nashua and Hudson Police Departments, conducted a canine search of select areas of Hollis Brookline High School. Specifically, the third floor of the building was searched, as well as portions of all three parking lots. As a result of a canine search of the lower student parking lot, a motor vehicle was seized pending the application for and execution of a search warrant. A court approved search was executed on the vehicle on Thursday, May 26, 2016, and the vehicle was subsequently released to its owner that same day. At this time, the investigation into this specific matter remains active.

As the canine search was being executed, school administrators indicated a fifteen (15) year old juvenile male subject left the school on foot without permission. When ordered to stop by a school administrator, the juvenile male subject fled into the woods and refused to exit when ordered to do so. Ultimately, the male subject was subsequently located and directed on several occasions to return to the school building. The juvenile male subject was subsequently placed into custody by the Hollis Police Department for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest/detention, and possession of marijuana. He was later released to the custody of his parents.

Aside from the information above, the canine search did not yield any other discoveries warranting criminal investigation. The Hollis and Brookline Police Departments wishes to thank the school administration, the teachers, the students, and their parents for their patience and understanding during the very brief period of time this canine search was conducted.
