Historic District Commission

PURPOSE AND GOALS: 

The Historic District's purpose is to safeguard the heritage of the town by preserving a District that reflects elements of its cultural, social, economic, political and architectural history; conserving property values; fostering civic beauty; strengthening the local economy and promoting the use of an Historic District for the education, pleasure and welfare of the citizens.

REGULAR MEETING: 

1st Thursday of each month; 7:00pm; Town Hall Community Room

MEMBERSHIP: (no more than)

5 regular and 3 alternate (3-year terms)

CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP:

Specific criteria include:

1. a resident of the Historic District;

2. a person owning a firm/business in the Historic District;

3. a registered architect or builder;

4. a real estate agent

5. experience in the following areas is not necessary, but would be a plus:

a. building design,
b. historic preservation,
c. landscape design,
d. history.
