Hollis Conservation Commission
PURPOSE AND GOALS:
Under the authorization of New Hampshire State Law (RSA 31:A), the purpose of the Hollis Conservation Commission (HCC) is to protect the natural and rural character of Hollis by protecting and conserving natural resources. The HCC places emphasis on protection of farm and forest resources, aquifers, surface waters, wetlands and scenic views.
REGULAR MEETING:
The HCC meets the first and third Wednesday of each month, at 7pm in the Town Hall Community Room.
MEMBERSHIP:
The HCC is a volunteer organization made up of seven regular and an unspecified number of alternate members, who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for three-year terms, unless the appointee is filling the unexpired term of a retiring member.
CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP:
The HCC plays an active role in the community. Membership requires a willingness to commit time to the following:
- Regular attendance at the two monthly meetings
- Participation in scheduled annual events, including the HCC sponsored Roadside Cleanup and the Hollis Old Home Days.
- Manage and monitor HCC property interests
- Evaluate potential HCC property interests
- Review and comment on wetland impact (dredge and fill) permits.
- Review of, and comment on, subdivision and site plans that are before the Hollis Planning Board. Acting in an advisorycapacity, the HCC provides input and makes recommendations to the Planning Board on proposed development plans that could potentially impact natural resources and rural character.
- Attend site walks scheduled by the Planning Board on properties proposed for development.
- Conduct site walks on HCC managed properties
