Hollis Heritage Commission

PURPOSE AND GOALS: 

To promote the proper recognition, use and protection of the unique cultural and historic resources of Hollis, and also integrate preservation planning into a partnership with individuals, businesses, Town boards and other appropriate groups. As stated in New Hampshire RSA 674:44 and referencing the Hollis Master Plan, the Hollis Heritage Commission shall have advisory and review authority. It shall also be empowered to accept and expend funds for a non-lapsing heritage fund, and to acquire and manage  property and property rights.

REGULAR MEETING: 

4th Tuesday of each month; 7:00pm; Town Hall Community Room

MEMBERSHIP:

6 regular and 5 alternate, including Selectman rep and HDC rep
(Selectmen appointed after nomination by HHC Chair for 3-year terms)

CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP:

The Hollis Heritage Commission is committed to educating and bringing forth a balance of preservation and responsibility within our town. Members of the commission work together with other boards and commission to bring awareness of the importance of saving our historic resources and to finding an alternative to demolition.

Specific criteria include but are not limited to:

1. Must be a Hollis Resident

2. Have a strong sense for historic preservation

3. Willing to meet and contribute once a month at our regular meetings

4. Have a willingness to work with others on projects outside of our scheduled meetings

5. Develop relationships with members of our community to fundraise as a way of financially supporting our projects

6. Ability to take site walks of the resources the commission is involved with maintaining

7. Experience in the following areas would be a plus but is not necessary:

a. Historic Preservation

b. Public Relations

c. Fundraising

d. Photography
