Hollis Social Library

PURPOSE AND GOALS: 

The management of the library is vested with the Board of Trustees. The role of a trustee is to establish and manage the library budget while overseeing the operations of library building, including staff, and materials collection and development.

REGULAR MEETING: 

2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:00pm in the Library Community Room (no meetings July or August)

MEMBERSHIP:

Seven trustees, all elected positions for one or three-year terms
Time commitment, approximately 4-6 hours per month

CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP:

1. Enjoys libraries and appreciates the role they serve in the community

2. Willingness to assist in decision making for library operations, staff recruitment, hiring and evaluation of personnel

3. Oversee implementation of budget and management of library

4. Review and revision of policies and procedures

5. Problem solving relating to budget, expenditures, approved acquisitions of assets

6. Willingness to attend State library-sponsored meetings, visit other libraries, develop understanding of library technology and trends

7. Experience in the following areas is not necessary but would be helpful:

a. Business management
b. Bookkeeping
c. Marketing or public relations
d. Long-term strategic planning
