On Monday, June 10, 2019, Chief Joseph Hoebeke and members of the Hollis Board of Selectpersons conducted an awards ceremony, recognizing the efforts of five members of the Hollis Police Department who exemplify the highest levels of professionalism and dedication to duty.

MPO Richard Bergeron, who serves as the School Resource Officer for SAU 41, was awarded the Chief’s Achievement Award (2nd Award), for his incredible work ethic, dedication to duty, and professionalism.  There is no better ambassador for the Hollis Police Department than MPO Bergeron.

MPO Joseph Wallent was awarded the Lifesaving Award (5th Award!!), for his efforts at saving the lives of two individuals experiencing cardiac distress.  Joe is an incredible human being and epitomizes all that we expect from our public servants.

Ofc. Adam Kushmerek and Ofc. Lucas Ilges were awarded the Meritorious Service Award (1st Award), for their efforts at de-escalating and bringing a peaceful resolution to an individual armed with a shoulder fired weapon.  Their quick and calm actions and responses during an extremely stressful and dynamic situation exemplify their professionalism and excellence.

Lt. James Maloney received the Chief’s Achievement Award (1st Award) for his commitment and dedication to duty, and for his efforts at helping the Hollis Police Department achieve nationally accredited status.  There is no doubt that the Hollis Police Department would not have realized this achievement in such a timely manner had it not been for the efforts of Lt. Maloney.

As the Chief of Police, I am proud to recognize the officers listed above.  Moreover, I feel a deep sense of pride and honor in having the blessing of serving with them in this honorable and noble profession.

I wish these officers, and all the men and women of the Hollis Police Department and Hollis Communications Center, continued success, health, happiness, and safety.
