RED RIBBON WEEK
October 23, 2020 through October 31, 2020

Red Ribbon Week raises awareness of alcohol and drug use, and the problems their use impacts our community. It encourages parents, educators, business owners, and other community organizations to promote a drug-free lifestyle.

Hollis Police Department School Resource Officer Richard Bergeron has partnered with our incredible schools, Guidance Counselors, and Wilson Auto Parts (Pepperell, MA) to encourage young people to live an alcohol and drug-free life. This was accomplished by displaying a 'crashed vehicle' at the Hollis Brookline High School. Although such a display can be emotional and overpowering, the intent is to bring the students of Hollis Brookline High School a sobering reminder of the dangers of impaired driving. The crash scene was set up with QR codes that students could scan to download statistics and information on impaired driving in New Hampshire.

To help create a drug-free community:

* Talk to your children about the dangers of drug abuse;
* Set clear rules for your children about not using alcohol, drugs or medication without a prescription;
* Be a good example. Do not use illegal drugs or medicine without a prescription.
* Monitor your children's behavior and enforce appropriate consequences.
* Encourage family and friends to follow the same guidelines.
