Hollis Police Department Proactive July 4th Motor Vehicle Enforcement Nets Three Arrests

July 9, 2019
Arrest

The Hollis Police Department made two impaired driving related arrests over 4th of July Holiday.  One of the arrests was made on a grant funded enforcement patrol specifically designed at targeting impaired drivers on our town's roads.  The funds for these targeted patrols are directed to state law enforcement agencies by the New Hampshire Department of Highway Safety, through federal grant dollars distributed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA).  The Hollis Police Department has been awarded a total of $13,365.00 in grant funding for the 2019 fiscal year for enforcement patrols, which allow us to devote more focus and attention to impaired driving, distracted driving, seatbelt violations, and other motor vehicle offenses that elevate the risks of motor vehicle collisions.

On July 3, 2019, Officer Collishaw was assigned to one of the previously mentioned enforcement patrols when he observed a vehicle traveling nearly twice the posted 30 MPH speed limit on Pine Hill Road.  The driver, Robert Arsenault, age 32 of Nashua, NH was arrested after a roadside investigation determined that he was impaired by alcohol.  Furthermore, Arsenault had two children under the age of ten years old in the vehicle with him at the time of his arrest.  He was charged with DUI, Aggravated DUI, Negligent Driving, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On July, 2019, at approximately 10:30 A.M., the Hollis Police Department was notified by a local business that there was a patron there who appeared to be intoxicated and had just left in his truck.  Officers were able to locate the truck which was traveling north on Main Street a short time later.  The officers observed the vehicle driving erratically, to include crossing over the center yellow line of the roadway.  Upon stopping the truck and administering field sobriety tests it was determined that the driver, Daniel Huard, age 60, of Hollis was in fact impaired and placed under arrest for DUI, Open Container, and Yellow Line Violation.

On July 6, 2019, Officer Wallent was conducting radar enforcement on Silver Lake Road in the area of the Hollis Primary School when he activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop a car for a speeding violation. It became apparent to Officer Wallent that the driver of the car had attempted to elude him.  The vehicle was located on Muzzey Lane with all of its lights extinguished.  As a result, the driver, Jason Fiore, age 18, of Brookline, NH was placed under arrest and charged with Disobeying and Officer and Speeding.

All three of these men were released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned on August 28, 2019 in the 9th Circuit Court Nashua District Division.
