Lieutenant James Maloney Recognized as the 2019 Employee of the Year

April 27, 2020
Maloney

It is with a great sense of pride that I inform you that you have been selected by the Hollis Police Department Recognition Committee as the 2019 Employee of the Year.  As you are likely aware, your eligibility for this award is a result of your selection as the Employee of the Quarter, 4th Quarter (October 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019).  Moreover, this is an award that is provided by your colleagues to the agency member who they believe contributed the most to the success of the Hollis Police Department during the 2019 calendar year.

Although one might think it is easy to compose such a letter to notify an employee of such an honor, I found it quite difficult to express to you in words how much you are appreciated.  Here is my attempt to convey how much you mean to the Hollis Police Department, and the level of respect and admiration you have earned from me and all of your colleagues.

Since joining the ranks of the Hollis Police Department in January 2018, you have established yourself as an integral part of our family and team.  Aside from possessing an incredible skillset, you are a consummate professional who is always willing to provide mentorship and leadership to those around you.  You have distinguished yourself as a highly capable Accreditation Manager, and someone who has gained the respect of other law enforcement practitioners and accreditation professionals in the State of New Hampshire and across the New England region.  This is evidenced by your selection as the Training Coordinator for the Northern New England Police Accreditation Coalition (NNEPAC).

You have achieved so many successes in your career and there are many times throughout a week or month that I contemplate how fortunate we all are in having you as a part of our team.  Aside from all of your professional accomplishments, the greatest attribute you possess, and the one in which I know you are most proud of, is being a friend, father, and husband.  You are someone who epitomizes all that we expect in our public servants, and you lead by example in your thoughts, your words, and your deeds.  Moreover, the manner in which you live both your personal and professional lives makes me proud to call you a colleague, a fellow law enforcement professional, and a friend.

I will say that we all, as an agency, have benefited from the all of your hard work since you joined the Hollis Police Department.  These efforts have been instrumental in building and strengthening the foundation from which our agency is built.  In doing so, you have set an example for all of us to follow, and demonstrate the true meaning of policing in this country; that is to provide selfless service to others with unwavering dedication, honor, and compassion

In closing, it gives me great pleasure to inform you of this important recognition.  You have contributed so much to our agency, and I hope I find many such opportunities to congratulate you in the future.  Please continue to inspire each of us with the high standards that you live by and exemplify both personally and professionally. I am forever grateful for your service to the Hollis Police Department, the Town of Hollis, and the members of this wonderful community.

Very Respectfully,
