UPDATED PRESS RELEASE - FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

On the morning of Friday, December 14, 2018, at around 2:05 AM, members of the Hollis Police Department and the Hollis Fire Department were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Proctor Hill Road. The on-scene investigation revealed that a 23 year old male driver, later identified as Matthew Wing of Hollis, New Hampshire, was traveling westbound on Proctor Hill Road near the area of 206 Proctor Hill Road. Due to an unknown reason, it is believed that the driver over-corrected the steering on his 2011 Honda CRV and went into a high speed drift causing him to swerve off of the road. The vehicle then traveled about 70 feet down the shoulder to the right of the westbound lane of travel before colliding with a tree.

The driver, who was the sole occupant in the motor vehicle, was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Ultimately, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Procotor Hill Road was temporarily restricted to one lane use while the investigation was being conducted and for a short period of time, both lanes were closed while the vehicle was removed from the shoulder/woodline area.

It is unknwon at this point whether speed played a factor in this crash and there were no obvious signs of alcohol use. Additionally, it was determined that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. An Accident Reconstructionist from the Hollis Police Department assisted responding officers with the accident investigation.

The Hollis Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact contact Lieutenant Brendan LaFlamme at (603) 465-7637. This collision remains under investigation.
