As Chief of Police, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Officer Lucas Ilges, Patrol Division, has been selected as the Hollis Police Department Employee of the Quarter, for the 1st quarter of 2020 (January 1st through March 31st).

Officer Ilges is a five-year veteran of the Hollis Police Department.  He recently served as our primary Field Training Officer for Officer Kyle Connors, and he has a well-deserved reputation of being a productive and fair officer.  As such, he is a natural choice for training newly hired officers as they work to familiarize themselves with the operations of our agency and the intricacies of the law enforcement profession.

In his time with the Hollis Police Department, Officer Ilges has consistently led the agency in self-initiated activities, including motor vehicle stops, arrests, and overall public contacts.  Aside from being highly professional, Officer Ilges is an excellent mentor to new officers as he is knowledgeable and approachable.  His quiet, friendly demeanor serves him well in his duties, and brings a level of calmness and consistency to the Patrol Division.

This past March, Officer Ilges conducted a motor vehicle stop with a driver who committed a number of moving violations.  In doing what we expect of our officers, which is to enforce the law judiciously and compassionately, not ridiculously, Officer Ilges was able to take the appropriate action to educate the driver about his driving behaviors.  Although part of this action was the issuance of citation, the driver called to compliment Officer Ilges’ demeanor and expressed appreciation for his professionalism and kindness.

Officer Ilges also serves as a part-time member of the Hillsborough County Safe Streets Tasks Force, working to help reduce the distribution of dangerous illicit drugs throughout the County.  For the past three years, he has also represented the Hollis Police Department as a member of the CHaD Baseball Team, which is an annual fundraising event to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.  Officer Ilges has been nominated several times for the Employee of the Quarter Award, and was the 2017 recipient of the ASIS Officer of the Year Award.

For this, and many other reasons, I am proud to recognize Officer Lucas Ilges as the Employee of the Quarter.  His continued professionalism, dedication to duty, and contributions to the Hollis Police Department and the safety of the community reflect great credit upon himself and the Hollis Police Department.

Very Respectfully,

Joseph R. Hoebeke

Chief of Police
