The Hollis Police Department continues to be active in our efforts of detecting impaired driving on our roadways, which is accomplished by proactive motor vehicle enforcement, and through the use of additional enforcement patrols funded by the New Hampshire Department of Highway Safety.  During Superbowl weekend, the Hollis Police Department made three arrests for impaired driving.   Details of these arrests are as follows:

On Saturday morning, February 2nd, at around 12:10 AM, members of the Hollis Police Department Patrol Division were dispatched to Pine Hill Road in order to investigate the report of an impaired driver.  Specifically, a resident on the roadway called to report that an unknown vehicle was in his yard, and that the driver appeared to be impaired and was apparently trying to get the vehicle back on the road. 

Upon arrival, responding officers determined that Andrew Heaps (26 years of age), of Nashua, New Hampshire, was operating his 2000 Ford Ranger, when he traveled off of the road and collided with a tree.  Heap was asked to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he agreed.  He was later arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, contrary to RSA 265-A:2, a misdemeanor level offense.  Heaps was booked, photographed, and released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Court – Nashua, on February 13, 2019.

On this same date (Saturday, February 2nd), at 2:00 AM, a Hollis Police Officer was conducting routine patrol on Proctor Hill Road.  It was at this time that a vehicle, being driven by Peter James Gill (26 years old), of Brookline, New Hampshire, committed several moving motor vehicle violations, including speeding, yellow line violations, and traveling off of the paved portion of the roadway.  Per request of the investigating officer, Gill submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he demonstrated indicators of impairment.  He was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, contrary to RSA 265-A:2, and other motor vehicle violations.  Gill was booked, photographed, and released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Court – Nashua on February 13, 2019, for the aforementioned charges.

On Sunday, February 3rd, at 2357 hours, a Hollis Police Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop with a driver who committed a yellow line violation.  The driver, later identified as Michael W. LeFlore (28 years old), of Townsend, Massachusetts, exhibited signs of impairment and was asked to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he agreed.  LeFlore was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, contrary to RSA 265-A:2, a misdemeanor level offense, and Yellow/Solid Line Violation, contrary to RSA 265:22, a violation.  Gill was booked, photographed, and released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Court- Nashua, NH, on February 13, 2019, for the aforementioned charges. 

In an effort to keep our roadways safe for our residents and visitors, the Hollis Police Department remains vigilant in our efforts at detecting and arresting impaired drivers.  Since January 1, 2019, the Hollis Police Department has made six arrests for impaired driving, which is a 500% increase for this offense when compared to the same time frame in 2018 (January 1 – February 4).  In the 2018 calendar year, the Hollis Police Department made 35 arrests for impaired driving related offenses, which equates to 3 arrests per month.
